Prayer Mobilization Line for May 12, 2009

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quite lives in all godliness and holiness.” I Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)

The following are praise reports and prayer requests from Nazarene Missions International for May 12, 2009:

PRAISES:

Porter Visas—UPDATE
We give praise to God that Stephen, Dana, and Watson Porter all received two-year visas on May 7. They will return to their assignment in Angola on May 14. Thank you for praying for the Porters as they waited for word on their visas. Pray that their transition back onto the field to which God has called them will go smoothly and that He will bless their ministry.

Arnold Praise for EuNC
Klaus and Martina Arnold, missionaries serving in Switzerland, give thanks and praise to God for His blessing and guidance for European Nazarene College (EuNC) to become “one school in many nations.” EuNC consists of a campus and administrative center in Switzerland, and 15 learning centers serving 17 countries throughout Europe. Klaus and Martina are missionaries we are praying for during the month of May. Prayer requests for their ministry can be found below.

Pakistan
Praise God for the way he continues to move in Pakistan, for the ministry work and the new missions started across the country.

Africa Leadership Conference
Praise the Lord for His covering and guidance of a recent leadership conference held at Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya. Over 300 Nazarene leaders from across seven fields attended to hear from other Nazarene leaders and the Lord. Pray that what these leaders learned at the conference will yield much fruit back in their churches and ministries. To read more about the Africa Leadership Conference, click here.

PRAY FOR:

Christian Educators in Unreached Countries
Ask the Lord of the Harvest to raise up more Christian educators to meet the rising demand for teachers on the Asia-Pacific Region. Many unreached countries are openly inviting English, Math, Science, and Computer teachers to come. Doors are wide open. Opportunities are great.

Rain Damage in Ecuador
Ecuador received an incredible amount of rain last week that caused mudslides and damage to the North Andean Field’s Work & Witness property. Pray that the area doesn’t have any more storms before the workers can shore up the most damaged areas.

Madagascar Political Situation
Pray for the new government of Madagascar and for stability to return to this country. Pray for all of the church’s ministry areas, church members, and leaders who are laboring for the advancement of the Kingdom in Madagascar. Pray specifically for Mission Director David Johnson and District Superintendent Richard Ravelomanantsoa and their families.

Bangladesh Community Programs
Pray for the community development programs in Bangladesh, for those coordinating the efforts of Bangladesh Nazarene Mission (BNM) and those enrolled in many of the programs. Pray that BNM will embody the Kingdom in practical ways. To read more about BNM’s ministry and other news from the Eurasia region, click here .

HEALTH-RELATED REQUESTS

Debbie Kleinfeld—UPDATE
Continued prayer is requested for Debbie Kleinfeld. Doctors in Virginia have concluded that Debbie’s heart has been weakened by an unknown sickness. Rolf, Debbie’s husband, writes, “The team working with Debbie have high hopes for a great recovery and that her heart will begin functioning at a more efficient capacity. We praise the Lord that blood clots in the heart and lungs have been ruled out. We have been blessed with a cardiologist who believes in Christ and is working with us. Thank you very much for praying with us.” The Kleinfelds are missionaries serving in Southeast Asia and are currently on home assignment in the U.S.A.

Phyllis Perkins—UPDATE
Thank you for your prayers for Phyllis Perkins. Her first chemotherapy treatment went well, although she experienced some side effects. Her oncologist is optimistic that this ongoing treatment will shrink the cancer at various sites. Dr. Perkins is finding anew that God’s grace is sufficient and she appreciates the outpouring of love and support from the family of God. Dr. Perkins is a former General Director of NWMS (now NMI), a retired missionary who served in Japan, and a former academic dean of Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado (U.S.A.).

Desperate Need for Crisis Care Kits!

Desperate Need for Crisis Care Kits

Thousands of Crisis Care Kits (CCKs) are made, stored, and distributed globally each year. CCKs are made by Nazarene volunteers for their brothers and sisters around the world who are recovering from devastating natural and man-made disasters. These kits are a tangible way for people to get involved in the disaster response process.

Each CCK is filled with basic hygiene products that provide a touch of comfort in the wake of life-altering catastrophes. They have been distributed after hurricanes and tsunamis, wildfires and earthquakes. They provide a glimmer of hope and a message of God’s love in a time of need.
Nazarenes have been very generous in collecting, packaging, and shipping Crisis Care Kits.
However, global circumstances of the recent past have left warehouses nearly empty with fewer than 300 remaining. There is a desperate need to replenish the store of ready CCKs to ensure a swift response to any potential disasters in the near future. Your gift of CCKs will be matched up to ten times through a matching grant. That is, your one Crisis Care Kit can be multiplied into ten!

Please motivate your congregation to collect and send Crisis Care Kits today. Together we can provide comfort and hope to people in need around the world.

For instructions on packing and shipping Crisis Care Kits, click here.
